Call for Artists: Fresh Faces

Umbra Arts Gallery is seeking four Twin Cities–based artists to be featured in an upcoming group exhibition, Fresh Faces. This exhibition is an opportunity to introduce new local voices to our gallery community and highlight artists whose work reflects a strong personal vision and sense of identity.

Each selected artist will be provided five feet of wall space to present physical artwork. At this time, the gallery primarily supports physical media; sound and video components are limited and may not be accommodated.

About the Exhibition

Fresh Faces is centered on you.

We are looking for work that tells a story about who you are as an artist—your experiences, perspective, aesthetics, and creative voice. The goal of this exhibition is not simply to present individual works, but to give viewers a clear sense of your artistic identity, visual language, and point of view.

Who Should Apply

  • Artists based in the Twin Cities metro area
  • Emerging or established artists who have not previously exhibited with Umbra Arts Gallery
  • Artists interested in presenting a cohesive body of work
  • Artists excited to share their story, process, and creative approach with the community

Accepted Media

Physical, wall-mounted artwork, including (but not limited to):

  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Printmaking
  • Photography
  • Mixed media
  • Textiles
  • Relief or low-profile sculpture

All work must arrive ready to install, with appropriate hanging hardware (such as wire) securely attached.

What to Submit

Please include the following in your submission:

  • A brief artist statement describing your work and how it relates to the theme Fresh Faces
  • A short description (4–5 sentences) outlining your techniques and creative process
  • Images of recent work you are interested in exhibiting
  • Any installation or display considerations we should be aware of

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: January 14, 2026
  • Art Drop-Off: January 18, 2026
  • Exhibition Opening: January 23, 2026 | 5:00–8:00 PM
  • Exhibition End: February 14, 2026

Additional details regarding installation and exhibition logistics will be shared with selected artists.
